Texas Adds 13,500 Private Sector Jobs in October

Texas Labor Market Review – November 2011

The Texas labor market gained 13,500 private sector jobs in October. Since the beginning of the year the state has added more than 200,000 private sector jobs. The annual growth rate for non-farm employment fell from 2.4 percent in September to 2.2 percent in October, remaining above the 2.0 percent level for the fifth consecutive month. In addition to job growth, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down to 8.4 percent in October. In September, the unemployment rate was 8.5 percent. The national unemployment rate was 9 percent in October.
