Twitter Appears to be the Social Media of Choice for CRE Service Providers

by CoyDavidson on April 4, 2011

I viewed the websites of 18 of the top Commercial Real Estate Service Providers to see how many social media icons or links to social media accounts were displayed on their homepage.

Twitter appears to be the most popular social media platform for big CRE Brands with 10 of the 18 brokerage firms displaying a link or icon to the micro-blogging site on their homepage. LinkedIn and Facebook were the second and third most displayed links respectively.

I should note some of the CRE service providers who have an active social media presence provided links to these accounts within their website, but they were not displayed on their homepage.

Our industry is catching up (see ULI article http://bit.ly/gWnP0o). Some people are realizing than tweets can only be found for a few minutes in Google searches. We are getting more questions about blogs (including videos) and connecting with influencers in order to increase buzz (see results of CREOpoint & KPMG study at http://bit.ly/ftr399)

Are you surprised by the gap between Twitter and Linkedin?

From what I’ve seen, this seems to hit the nail on the head! We’re seeing a big rise in the use of social media among property and tenant managers.
