This Week in the Economy

As a result of the year-end holidays the economic news was light for the past week. The S&P 500 finished 2011 down 0.03 points down a 0.002% decline. The Dow, meanwhile, rose 5.5% for the year, and the Nasdaq lost 1.8%. On the commercial real estate and retail front, Sears announced the closing of 120 underperforming Sears and Kmart stores.
