Twitter Signs 200,000 Square Foot Lease at Market Square in San Francisco
Twitter Inc. has officially announced the signing of a lease Friday to move its corporate headquarters from Folsom Street to the historic Market Square building on Market Street in San Francisco.
Twitter has consummated a 200,000 square foot lease at Market Square, a transaction that will keep the company in San Francisco for at least the next six years. The popular social networking company will move its headquarters from 795 Folsom St. to 1355 Market Street, a 805,000 square foot art deco former furniture showroom building that Shorenstein Properties recently acquired for $110 million. The announcement came from Twitter chief financial officer Ali Rowghani in a company blog post entitled,“The Tweets of San Francisco”.
The highly anticipated Twitter lease follows other recent high-profile corporate real estate moves in the social networking space from Facebook and Zynga. My Colliers International colleagues in Silicon Valley were not involved in the twitter lease transaction. However, Colliers did represent Zynga in their lease transaction and Oracle Corporation in the Facebook deal for the former Sun Microsystems campus.
