Houston is a “Cost Effective” Place to Build

Construction costs up 1.6% year-over-year in Houston

Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin are among the most economical cities in the United States to put up a new structure according to a report from Reed Construction Data.

Year-over-year construction costs in Houston have risen 1.6%. Houston ranks 43rd in construction costs out of the 51 cities tracked by Reed. Dallas at (47), San Antonio (49) and Austin (50) make Texas clearly the most economical state for construction.

U.S. construction costs increased 1.7% year-over-year in October, according to the RSMeans’ 30-City index. New York remains America’s most expensive city in which to build, San Francisco, Oakland, Honolulu and Boston round out the top five.
