Houston is Adding Primarily High Paying Jobs

Houston Economic Update – September 2011

Houston’s economy continues to perform well in comparison to the national economy and despite the economic headwinds the Houston area continues to demonstrate healthy job growth. With an election year coming and Texas Governor Rick Perry seeking the Republican presidential nomination, the media has begun to place the microscope on the recent job growth in Texas sometimes referred as the “Texas Miracle.” Some have suggested that job growth in Texas has been achieved with primarily lower paying jobs. However, data indicates job growth in Houston has been in primarily high paying industries. Below is the Greater Houston Partnership’s monthly economic review for September.
