CRE Buzzwords 2012?

A Rare Dose of Snark from The Tenant Advisor

A buzzword (also fashion word and vogue word) is a term of art, salesmanship, politics, or technical jargon that is used in the media and wider society outside of its originally narrow technical context. Commercial real estate like many industries has its fair share of jargon and buzzwords.

In 2009 and into the early part of 2010 it seemed no matter what medium that covered commercial real estate, you couldn’t escape hearing “commercial real estate the next shoe to drop”. Well the shoe never really dropped as the commercial real estate market exhibited signs of a modest recovery in late 2010 and into 2011. As a result, we began to hear about the “bifurcated market” and the “flight to quality” to the “gateway city.”

2012 is upon us, what will be the buzzwords du jour for CRE in 2012? Let’s toss a few out now for consideration before we get sick of hearing them!
